Bilorex

Bilorex® is a manufacturing process, invented and patented worldwide by Wykes International, to combine spandex/elastane (eg LYCRA®) and nylon. The unique covering process creates yarns especially suited for: stretch knitwear, seamfree apparel and socks.

INVISIBLE BILOREX® is a yarn, which gives excellent stretch and recovery to knitwear. The benefits are:
Total flexibility of colour selection
Faster lead times
Greater design flexibility for multicolour stripes
Reduced risk of fabric panel size variation
Softer fabric handle
Lighter fabric, compared to those using dyed to match elastic yarns
Lower synthetic yarn content in the fabric/higher natural fibre content
Low “carbon footprint” manufacturing process

The features are:

  • Available in white and black - the yarn does not need to be dyed to match and is available from stock
  • Very low nylon content
  • Very consistent recovery power
  • Very fine yarn count – 30 decitex (28 denier) = 1/200 Ne cotton count

MULTI-SOFT BILOREX® is a yarn which gives improved fabric yield and greater softness in seamfree apparel.

The benefits are:
Very soft handle seamfree fabrics
Improved fabric yield, with longer and lighter panels knitted.

Bilorex & The Environment

Wykes International are committed to reducing our impact on the environment. The companies environmental policy is to reduce the “carbon footprint” in the production of sweaters. Invisible Bilorex is proven to use less energy, not only in the production of the yarn itself, but also in the process of making elasticated sweaters. Moreover, there is a move to reduce the synthetic content of yarns in garments, but not at the expense of garment performance.

1. Production of Invisible Bilorex uses less energy than a standard 20/70 low powered Dye To Match plating yarn
  a. Invisible Bilorex is not dyed, so energy and water resources are not used at all. Even the black Invisible Bilorex yarn is not dyed as the process uses solution dyed black nylon, which is extruded by the nylon manufacturer – the same process as extruding ecru nylon.
  b. Invisible Bilorex is a one step production process, taking nylon and Lycra from the raw material suppliers and combining them, whereas all other elastic plating yarns take at least two production processes:
  i. Texturising of the nylon
ii. Combining of the nylon and the Lycra
  iii. Dyeing the combined yarn.
2. The amount of Bilorex yarn used in a sweater is less than half that of a standard yarn
  a. Less nylon content (about 6% compared to 15% for a standard yarn)
  b. Although the nylon content is lower, Bilorex yarns give excellent stretch and recovery performance – as good as and in many cases better than the current high percentage synthetic yarns used.
